The Opening reception of Candy Coated Canvas at London Miles Gallery, located in West London welcomed a very large crowd all quickly covered in yummy cupcakes. The artwork was presented in a totally decorated gallery, with hanging paper ice creams from the ceiling and a a floor decoration of white cotton and puff balls, the whole gallery was transformed to fit the sweet and fantasy theme.
Curated by Tina Ziegler (thats me) the exhibition featured themed artworks from a very diverse group of international artists. From Kukula, to Dholbachie, to Jade Klara. Art work from Japan to South Africa, the exhibition showcased some of todays international cutting edge talent for the first time in the U.K.
Artworks from Robert Tirado set the standard for a more fine art approach to painting, while artists Dholbachie brought a truly inspirational and surreal edge to it all. Both Lost Fish and Zoe Lacchei really went all out in the candy theme and created some beautiful, sweet and some what naughty pieces of artwork. Over all this group exhibition had a nice balance, and really brought something differernt to the Notting Hill / West London gallery world. Stay tuned for more from London Miles!
